Pretzels are always good but if you are looking for a way of making them even better you can always coat them in chocolate. If you want a healthier alternative, consider coating them in yogurt instead. The yogurt mixture will dry and stick to the pretzels and yogurt offers a similar sweetness to the chocolate but also a distinctive tang which contrasts perfectly with the saltiness of the pretzels. The following recipe only calls for 4 ingredients, and it is so easy to make.
All you need to do is mix powdered sugar with protein powder and yogurt to make the coating, and coat the pretzels. They then need to be left in a warm oven for a few hours so the coating can harden and set. Depending on which yogurt you use and your oven, this might take 4 hours or it might take less. The finished pretzels can be stored in an airtight container for up to 3 days, but they are so tasty they might not last that long.
There are 2 ways to make yogurt covered pretzels but the recipe a lot of people try first calls for 5 cups of powdered sugar and 2 cups of yogurt. The result of that recipe tends to be soggy pretzels and a coating which is far too sweet, which is why we prefer to use 1 cup of powdered sugar and some vanilla protein powder as well, to balance out the flavor, give the coating a good consistency, and to guarantee it will actually set and yield a good result.
